Tree Removal on Mossy Pines Ct, The Woodlands, TX
Project Overview
- Location: Mossy Pines Ct, The Woodlands, TX
- Service: Tree Removal & Stump Grinding
- Date: March 2026
The Situation
A homeowner in The Woodlands contacted us about a large red oak positioned between their pool and patio. The tree had been declining for two years, with increasing amounts of deadwood falling into the pool and onto the patio furniture. A recent inspection by another arborist had confirmed bacterial leaf scorch, a disease with no cure.
Our Assessment
We confirmed the diagnosis and noted:
- Approximately 40% canopy dieback
- Significant deadwood throughout the canopy
- Bark sloughing on major branches
- The tree's position made it a direct threat to the pool, patio, and pool equipment
The Challenge
This removal was technically demanding due to:
- The pool directly below one side of the canopy
- A pergola and outdoor kitchen on the other side
- Limited access through a side gate
- No room for a crane
Our Approach
Our lead climber ascended the tree and performed a complete aerial dismantle:
- Every branch and trunk section was rigged and lowered with ropes
- A ground crew guided each piece to a clear landing zone
- Plywood sheets were laid over the pool deck to protect the surface
- The trunk was cut in small sections to manage weight over the tight space
Stump Grinding
The stump was ground to 12 inches below grade. Given the proximity to the pool, we took extra care to contain the grindings and prevent any material from entering the water.
The Results
The homeowner was amazed that we completed the removal without a scratch on the pool, patio, or any surrounding structures. They mentioned plans to plant a smaller, disease-resistant tree in a better location.
