The Situation
The homeowner on Purple Sage had multiple tree care needs. Two large live oaks in the front yard needed significant trimming, and a dying hackberry tree in the side yard needed complete removal. They wanted everything handled in one visit to minimize disruption and cost.
Tree Trimming
For the two live oaks, our crew performed:
- Crown cleaning - Removed all dead, broken, and diseased branches
- Crown raising - Lifted the canopy to provide 10 feet of clearance over the yard and 14 feet over the driveway
- Crown thinning - Thinned the interior by approximately 15% to improve light and airflow
- Clearance pruning - Cut back branches growing toward the house and over the roof
Both oaks responded beautifully to the pruning, with a balanced, natural shape that enhanced the home's curb appeal.
Tree Removal
The hackberry tree was approximately 35 feet tall and showed signs of extensive decline:
- Dieback in more than 60% of the canopy
- Bark splitting on the main trunk
- Soft, punky wood when probed
We removed the tree in sections, ground the stump below grade, and raked the area clean.
The Results
