The Situation
A Pearland homeowner had three trees removed by another company but was left with three large stumps in their front yard. The previous company either didn't offer stump grinding or charged an excessively high price for it. The stumps were an eyesore and the homeowner couldn't mow around them easily.
Our Assessment
We found three stumps of varying sizes:
- Stump 1: 24-inch diameter oak stump
- Stump 2: 18-inch diameter pine stump
- Stump 3: 14-inch diameter hackberry stump
All three were at ground level with visible surface roots extending several feet in each direction.
The Work
Our stump grinder made quick work of all three stumps:
- Each stump was ground to 8-10 inches below grade
- Surface roots were ground down as well to prevent tripping hazards
- All grindings were used to backfill the holes
- Excess grindings were spread as mulch in the nearby flower beds
- The areas were raked smooth and ready for topsoil and grass seed
The Results
The homeowner finally had a smooth, usable front yard. They planned to add topsoil and reseed the areas in early spring. The total job took about two hours for all three stumps.
