Tree Removal on Misty Morning Ct, Katy, TX
Project Overview
- Location: Misty Morning Ct, Katy, TX
- Service: Tree Removal & Stump Grinding
- Date: January 2026
The Situation
A Katy homeowner on Misty Morning Ct noticed mushrooms consistently growing at the base of a large water oak in their front yard. The tree's canopy had also become noticeably thinner over the past year. They called HamodaTrees for an assessment.
Our Assessment
Our team identified the fruiting bodies as a wood-decay fungus, indicating significant root rot. Additional findings included:
- Soft, spongy wood at the root flare
- Reduced canopy density compared to neighboring oaks
- Minor lean developing toward the house
- Soil cracking on the side opposite the lean
We recommended removal before the tree progressed to a point of structural failure.
The Removal
The tree was approximately 45 feet tall and positioned 15 feet from the home. We used our bucket truck and careful rigging to dismantle the tree section by section:
- Top branches removed first and lowered by rope
- Main scaffold branches taken in sections
- Trunk cut in 4-foot sections from the top down
- Stump ground to 10 inches below grade
- Root flare area excavated and cleaned
The Results
The removal went smoothly with no damage to the home, driveway, or landscaping. The homeowner expressed relief and mentioned they had been losing sleep worrying about the tree falling during storms.
