The Situation
Bellaire is known for its charming older neighborhoods with mature trees and relatively small lot sizes. A homeowner on Brookside Elm Dr had three large trees - two live oaks and a pecan - that were causing issues with the neighbors, power lines, and their roof.
The Challenges
This job required precision due to:
- Tight property lines with trees overhanging into two different neighbors' yards
- Overhead utility lines running through one of the oak canopies
- Close proximity to the house with branches resting on the roof
- Limited equipment access through a narrow side yard
Our Approach
We used a combination of climbing and our bucket truck positioned in the street:
- Live Oak #1 (front yard): Crown raised to clear the roof by 8 feet, branches pulled back from power lines, and overhanging growth trimmed to the property line
- Live Oak #2 (side yard): Crown cleaned and thinned, raised to provide clearance for the neighbor's fence
- Pecan (backyard): Deadwood removed, crown reduced slightly to prevent branches from reaching the roof, thinned for storm resistance
The Results
All three trees were beautifully shaped and properly cleared from structures, utilities, and property lines. The homeowner's neighbors both came out to thank us for the improved appearance and reduced debris in their yards.
